Transformation in the Short-Term Vacation Rental Industry
HAVE YOU STAYED IN A VACATION RENTAL?
If you travel regularly you will have no doubt thought about booking or have already stayed in a short-term vacation rental. My husband and I have stayed in vacation rentals in Italy, B.C., Canada, Seattle, Santa Barbara, Oregon, and the list goes on…. We’ve had great experiences with vacation rentals and choose them any time we are staying in one place longer than 3-4 nights as you can really settle in, get a parking stall, have a kitchen, en-suite laundry and they tend to be cheaper and much more spacious.
IS HOME SHARING A SHIFT IN TRAVELER PREFERENCES?
It is obvious to us Generation X’er’s (you could say Millenial for me) that vacation rentals and home sharing is a trend and a shift in traveler preferences. It is how the next generation prefers to travel. Hotels will always be necessary for short stays near beaches or airports… but vacation rentals are much better options for longer stays where you want to get a better feel of a local community.
Are Vacation Rentals here to stay FOREVER? OR are they a Trend that neighborhood boards and governments will inevitably snuff out?
Wharton University of Pennsylvania published this excellent in-depth article about the current transformations going on in the home sharing and short-term vacation rental industry. Worth the read!
